I've been working on my figure drawing using the Croquis Cafe website, which has awesome videos of all kinds of live models. Today I was working with conte crayon, which I actually really like. It feels a bit easier to control than charcoal (although I may just need to get the charcoal sharper than I have been). It seems to work well for the darker skin tone of this model, although toned paper might have been a good choice too.
This is one of the still life paintings I've been doing recently, trying to get back into doing a painting each day in one sitting. I thought I would focus on my manikin friend here for the next few, since he has all these nice geometric shapes and a limited color palette. And he's so cooperative!
