Instant art show #8

origami watercolor

Welcome to the eighth Instant Art Show, which is created using a single simple but powerful watercolor technique known as a flat wash. The pieces from this show are based on some of the origami animal images I had used in my Zodiac Collage series, and are a great way to hone the ability to control values (meaning how light or dark a color is) using a series of flat washes. Each piece uses just one color, which makes the exercise even easier. And when presented in multiples, the images become even more interesting. The video will be here on my website soon, but for now, you can see photos of the completed images. And if you’re out on Friday, December 1 for the Ashland First Friday Artwalk, feel free to stop by my studio between 5 and 7 pm to take a look and talk watercolor!
