instant art show #7

abstract watercolors

Welcome to the seventh Instant Art Show, where I’ve created some abstract watercolors using a process that involves a limited palette of two colors, and a background of geometric shapes using stamping tools. And joining me for this week’s experiment is my friend and studio mate Gabriel Lipper, an experienced professional painter who’s always game for trying a new approach to making art! Check out the video below to learn more about the process and watch Gabriel and I work with the techniques in this week’s Instant Art Show:

The artwork from this week’s show was really fun to make! The combination of a limited palette of two colors helps all the pieces in the series to harmonize, and the use of geometric shapes as a compositional anchor was a really fun concept to play with in the studio. And I was so glad Gabriel was able to join me for this week’s video. It’s always such a treat to be able to explore these kinds of ideas with a fellow artist!
